Stop number 1: Beaufort, NC. Pronounced "Bo-fort" by natives, this port town is the third oldest town in North Carolina (1709). It has a cute, quaint, historic downtown with lots of shops and restaurants and you can see boats coming in and out of the harbor -- great place to spend the morning.

Stop number 2: Emerald Isle, NC. About a 30 minute drive from Beaufort, Emerald Isle is your standard beach community/family vacation spot. If you've ever been to the Outer Banks of North Carolina, Emerald Isle is just like it. Most of the homes are in private communities and are rentals for vacationers during the summer. It took me awhile to find a public access point to the beach with parking, since most of the streets don't allow public parking to ensure privacy for those in the neighborhood/community. After some searching, I finally found a spot and camped out for the afternoon!

whoa.. it IS possible for her to do a somewhat in depth post. ps that bar looks like a gas station.
ReplyDeleteDon't judge a bar by its' gas pumps strom.
