Celebrated my best friend Allison's 23rd birthday this past weekend, which included the first swim (if you can call it that) in the lake of the season! The water was a boiling 55 degrees... aka: frigid, but we did it! Harvey's Lake is really one of my favorite places in the world... can't wait to spend lots of time there this summer.
After our afternoon dip, we celebrated with hibachi (yum!), cake and drinks! So glad I got to celebrate with you Al - hope you had a good time pretty girl.

SO MUCH TO BLOG ABOUT!
1) Survived my final finals at Ithaca (or at least on the IC campus). I can't believe I have spent a half of a decade in Ithaca... my, time sure does fly! KBYE IC. What a ride it's been...

2) Survived by first half marathon! Ran side by side with my buddy Shane to cross the finish line at 1:58:05, which is 9 minute miles. Not too shabby for our first marathon experience and minimal training (one week, actually... ha!). It was so much fun though - I'm hooked! Can't wait for my next one. :)
Night before the race... surprisingly not biting each other.
The final .1 mile stretch! Beautiful strides...
Finish line with Maisy Mouse :)
Waiting for our partners to finish the second leg with Momma O'Malley :)
WE DID IT! Teams Born to Run and Runnin' with Neighbs! So proud of us.
3) Frolicked around Ithaca for a few days (with absolutely NOTHING to do!) Said goodbye to South Albany Street and headed home. Became obsessed with this song...
4) HOMEHOMEHOMEHOME with Maisy <3. A wish that the weather would clear so summer can begin!

Happy Mother's Day to all Moms out there.
(Sidenote: If you have never seen these videos before, you're missing out. These are some of my favorites... I'm sure my Jersey readers can relate.)

Yesterday was POWDERPUFF! Although it was freezing cold, windy and wet, team Purple Haze battled through adversity to finish in second place for the third time in four years. Can't seem to get that 'ship - but no worries, there's always next year (yep... us grad students have planned a trip back to Ithaca JUST for this occasion :])

The saddest of news - I no longer have an alma mater in the Wyoming Valley; Gate of Heaven elementary and middle schools are closing at the end of this school year. This new closing is to go along with my high school, Bishop O'Reilly which stopped shaping the minds of kids in 2007. It's extremely sad to know that when I go home, I have no place to visit teachers - I'll have no place to show my kids... Things like this make me lose faith in the Catholic church. It's a shame kids won't get the same education I received at both of these fine institutions all because of a little money...
So many memories... May the gator live on <3
Addendum: I sent the link to my brother and this was his reply. I couldn't have said it better myself...
"That's [the closing] really bad. They had a 90% retention rate and they still shut them down. I can't believe that "the large discrepancy between enrollment and capacity" is what he cited as the reason. That's like closing a store in Shavertown with solid sales because it doesn't match the volume of sales with one in New York City. The only difference is that the 'store' he is closing has the memories and lives of thousands of people invested in it. It is really sad. And they wonder why church attendance is down. Maybe its not the employees, maybe its the managers."

OH - I almost forgot. Henry (my car - for those of you who have been living under a rock and didn't realize that was his name) hit 100,000 miles this morning! Ari and I hopped in the car this morning and he was at 99,996 - so we decided to drive around for an extra two miles just so we didn't miss this monumental moment. Congrats Henry - let's hope for many more!

Soooo per ushe, I've rejected my blog for a bit. I really had a great streak going there for awhile but old habits are hard to break and alas - it's been over a week since I've posted a single piece of pointless information. Anyways, let's see...
Currently home on Spring break - nothing crazy to report.
1) I had a touch of pneumonia/bronchitis in the beginning of the week, but went to the docs, got some meds and am as good as new.
2) Got a new pair of glasses... they're red on the outside and are black with white polka dots on the inside. < / super cool>
3) MARCH MADNESS. I've been spending 8+ hours glued to the TV watching my bracket fall apart. KBYE Nova, Georgetown and Louisville. What is going on, Big East?
4) MAISYMAISYMAISYMAISYMAISY! <3 except she peed on my floor this morning - therefore we are fighting. But previous to that, we've had some great walks together with friends. She also looks really good in sunglasses.
5) Saint Pat's Day. Green. Fun. Basketball.
Last day at home and back to Ith tomorrow. 8 weeks left until summer? I'll take it. KBYE. Must mentally prepare for today's games.

First and foremost, I'd like to apologize to my blog readers for my lack of posting yesterday. I know you were all disappointed/continuously refreshing this page anxiously awaiting a new post. But unfortunately, the internet decided not to work in our house and therefore, my ability to post was hindered. I'm really peeved about it too, especially since I had not missed a day of blogging the WHOLE MONTH OF FEBRUARY. Monumental, I know...
In any event - today was the first day of classes for ICPT after returning from our affils. All-in-all, an okay day.
Class number 1 - Research II. Held my interest for the whole hour and fifteen minutes! Let's see how long that lasts...
Class number 2 - Pharmacology. We watched THIS video.
I think I'm going to nerd out (even more so) in this course. I'm excited.
Class number 3 - Pyschosocial Aspects of Patient Client Care. We watched THIS video. Pretty friggin' impressive and inspirational, if you ask me.
Following classes, had a great 4 mile run followed by a solid game of basketball. Great way to kick off the semester.

I love East Carolina University's mascot. Why can't Ithaca have something cool like a pirate? It's so much easier to depict than a bomber. After all, who even knows what kind of "bomber" Ithaca's mascot is supposed to be? If anyone really DOES know and I'm just being ignorant, let me know. Much appreciated.

Anyways, bought myself some ECU apparel today.. arrrrgh!

What a PERFECT day!
Stop number 1: Beaufort, NC. Pronounced "Bo-fort" by natives, this port town is the third oldest town in North Carolina (1709). It has a cute, quaint, historic downtown with lots of shops and restaurants and you can see boats coming in and out of the harbor -- great place to spend the morning.

This bar looks like it would be a great hangout... Roadtrip, anyone?

Stop number 2: Emerald Isle, NC. About a 30 minute drive from Beaufort, Emerald Isle is your standard beach community/family vacation spot. If you've ever been to the Outer Banks of North Carolina, Emerald Isle is just like it. Most of the homes are in private communities and are rentals for vacationers during the summer. It took me awhile to find a public access point to the beach with parking, since most of the streets don't allow public parking to ensure privacy for those in the neighborhood/community. After some searching, I finally found a spot and camped out for the afternoon!

The water's still a bit cold... eek!

Great day to fly a kite. :)

It's official - when I FINALLY become a grown-up and need to look for a job, it HAS to be near the coast... Just somethin' about that salty air...
